MCPE Alpha 0.12.1 is an update that was released for Windows 10 version back on July 29th, 2015 but had some difficulties when developing for the other portable devices. At the moment the alpha update is available on Amazon Fire OS phones, but that’s going to change tomorrow! Finally the MCPE 0.12.1 update will be released on September 8th, 2015 for all other portable devices, but that could even be delayed due to Apple.
Why could Apple delay it?
Well the Apple app store prides itself on filtering out junk and buggy apps, so it’s review system is a little more stringent which could push the release date to next week! We however don’t mind because that’s what makes Apple known for it’s quality.
What will the 0.12.1 update come with?
The 0.12.1 update will include many new things such as the Nether, brewing, enchanting, hunger, weather, and much more. For a full list check out Minecraft Gamepedia.
The Future of MCPE for Windows Phone 8.1
Many wonder if Microsoft will keep developing MCPE for the Windows phone, and we think they will, the real question is what is the future of the Windows Phone? Due to the popularity with Android and iOS, will Microsoft phase out the Windows phone like Blackberry? Only time will tell.
The Future of MCPE
@Yikko2 redstone won’t be in 0.12, just on the next major release :D
— Tommaso Checchi (@_tomcc) September 5, 2015
Finally, Tommaso Checchi, Mojang developer for MCPE announced that Redstone will be available on the next major update! What does this mean? Redstone dust can be placed in a line on the ground and act like a wire. There are a bunch of devices that send a Redstone signal, like buttons and pressure plates, and receive a signal like pistons and dispensers. Then you have a ton of cool devices you can build, like automatic farms and elevators.
We speculate that it might be available in the next 6 months, which isn’t that bad actually!
