I feel like I say this every time something big comes up, but Minecraft seems to be the game to recreate famous things in. We’ve had Game of Thrones, Space Invaders, Epic Sax Guy and now Azeroth (and Outland).
The Crafting Azeroth project is a full-scale reproduction of the World of Warcraft environment for Minecraft. It came about a few years ago, and in December was finally fully finished and released. The creator Rumsey, states that for the majority, the process of converting World of Warcraft to Minecraft was mainly automated using custom conversion software. Nevertheless, the result is epic. As you can see from the map below, all the continents have been recreated, as well as Outland. Instances and Dungeons have not been created yet, and Pandaria is in the works. Apart from that it’s complete.
Here are some screenshots of the actual world, to show you the result
Howling Fjord
Icecrown Glacier
Storm Peaks
Dalaran
Crystalsong Forest
Warsong Hold
The Dark Portal
Ogrimmar

You can also download the map, though be warned that it’s a hefty 6.8GB, and requires a Bukkit server and several included plugins to work properly.
