With the addition of Elytra to Minecraft, flying (of sorts) is now possible. With this, combat is taken to the skies. Rather than fight on the ground, you can now fly 
through the sky and shoot arrows at people, or swoop in close for a kill. The best implementation of this so far is by Nathanh1223, who has created “The Elytra Games”. After more than 15 hours of work, you can now fight with your friends and conquer the skies.
The map was built and designed for Minecraft 15w41b, so make not work in other versions. However, if you want to play it for yourself, you can download it from the Minecraft Forums.
