This announcement is likely to make a large number of teenagers happy. Dinnerbone has tweeted that Name Changes for Minecraft are coming “Soon”.

“Name changes will be coming very soon though. They’re already possible to do in our systems, but there’s no front-end yet. Soooon!”

No longer does the name 11 year old you though was cool have to stay. XXSwagMasterXX can be changed, as can that_cookie_guy (or any other usernames people have).

There is no word on whether name changes will cost or not, but if Mojang’s massive fortune is anything to go by, we can see a small charge being attached to name changes. Lets see where Microsoft takes it!
