Summary: “Planetary Confinement—The Dunes” is the new Herobrine’s Mansion. It’s a game-changer, and worth your time.
Samasaurus6‘s “Planetary Confinement—The Dunes” was released last week, and i’ve been playing it over the last few days.
Having never played the mod pack that inspired this map, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. (I have watched a few of Etho’s LP videos). What I found was a well polished map that challenges what we expect from Minecraft adventure/challenge maps.
You start out in a crashed spaceship, with a spacesuit, a sapling, a redstone rifle to defend yourself and a machine to extract water from saplings. Oh, there’s also a quest book. Your job is to survive, and eventually escape.

Planetary Confinement is the new Herobrine’s Mansion. A Map that comes out and changes everyone’s expectations about what Minecraft can do. While we’ve seen small scale custom model based maps, Planetary Confinement is the new standard for adventure/challenge maps. What was once the domain of mods is now Vanilla. What was once perceived impossible is now a reality.
If you haven’t guessed it already, this map is awesome. It’s changed my perception of what can be done with Minecraft, and it provided an enjoyable experience to boot.
